Super Parties for Super Bowl

Tuesday, January 25, 2011, Myrtle Beach - Throughout Grand Strand Land, restaurant owners are planning Super Bowl XLV parties to celebrate the Green Bay Packers vs. the Pittsburgh Steelers and all the fun and hoopla that goes with the big game.


The Super Bowl XLV Barbecue Throwdown is taking place again this year at Marlin Quay Marina in Garden City. Danny's B.B.Q. from Murrells Inlet, Charlie Daniels BBQ from Statesville, N.C., and Turbo's B.B.Q. from Darlington are butting pork butts to claim bragging rights and to serve up $7 barbecue plates from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Joey Dogg's out of Surfside Beach will serve hot dog dinners. All proceeds will benefit Coastal Animal Rescue, a no-kill volunteer animal shelter. Marlin Quay is at 1508 S. Waccamaw Dr. in Garden City, and the number is 651-6544.


Hillbilly's Still 'n' Grill at 3389 S.C. 9 in Little River is having a Super Bowl Oyster Roast from 4-7 p.m. on Feb. 6.



You can get a party box full of subs at Bello Cibo Deli, which is at 115 Willbrook Blvd., by Piggly Wiggly in the Litchfield Market Village Square Plaza in Pawleys Island. For $40 the deal includes nine 5-inch subs of your choice plus two 2-liter bottles of soda. Another Super Bowl special is that if you buy any large party platter, you'll get a second medium-size platter at half-price. The folks at Bello Cibo need at least 48 hours' notice for these orders, and you can put in your request at (843) 237-4333.


Gio's Pizza and Subs at 10225 Ocean Highway in Pawleys Island is offering on Super Bowl Sunday one free pizza with the purchase of three pizzas. A 30-wing platter is $16. The number is (843) 237-8245.


Hana Teppanyaki House has crunchy veggie spring rolls.

Hana Teppanyaki House, 4036-9 River Oaks Dr., Myrtle Beach, (843) 903-5151, is offering a Super Bowl Party Platter for $40 that will feed 10 people. The deal includes 20 Veggie Spring Rolls, 20 Gyoza (pork and veggie dumplings), crispy Asian shrimp, a choice of teriyaki or wasabi chicken wings and edamame.


If you watch the Super Bowl at Hooters on Feb. 6, you get to enter a drawing for a chance to win a 42" HDTV. A total of 380 televisions will be given away at Hooters locations throughout the United States. There are two Hooters restaurants in Myrtle Beach, at 3901 N. Kings Highway, 626-3467; and 10133 N. Bovine's in Murrells Inlet is having a Super Bowl party with an all-you-care-to-eat $10 buffet. They're also offering discounted drinks, raffles for a Nintendo Wii game system and a flat screen television, and a cornhole tournament. Island Bar & Grill at 2272 Glenns Bay Road in Surfside Beach is having a free halftime buffet, buckets of beer, quarterly shot specials and a whole lot of hooting and hollering. The number is (843) 650-3157.


The Beef O' Brady's by Wicked Sticks Golf Course at 8703 U.S. 17 Bypass S. in Surfside Beach is having food and drink specials and games with prizes during the Super Bowl. They're giving away cash after every quarter and there'll be a drawing to win free wings for a year. Select appetizers will be $4, and beverage offers include $1 domestic drafts, $2 domestic bottles and $2 house liquors. The number is (843) 215-6523.
