ACF Myrtle Beach Salon Competition Winners

Chef Fiona McKensie of Sandhills Community College in Pinehurst, N.C., was the first place pastry winner at an ACF-sanctioned competition in Myrtle Beach.

Thursday, Jan. 26, 2012, Myrtle Beach - Winners in one of three culinary competitions held this week at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center have been announced.

 

Winners were announced in the American Culinary Federation-sanctioned Salon, which had three categories: pastries (3 competitors), an entire multi-course meal (4 competitors) and a cold food display (6 competitors). First place in each category came with a $500 prize.

 

In the cold food display, the winner was Executive Chef Corbett Rourke of The Dunes Golf and Beach Club in Myrtle Beach.

 

In the multi-course meal category, Chef Brian Campbell of Johnson & Wales University in Charlotte was the winner.

 

The pastry category championship went to Chef Fiona McKensie of Sandhills Community College in Pinehurst, N.C.

 

Winners of the mystery box challenge (28 competitors) and the seafood challenge (20 competitors) will be announced later today.
