Breakfast Klub Going Bananas

By Laura C. Burns
Monday, June 25, 2012, Murrells Inlet - The Breakfast Klub restaurant off S.C. 707 in Murrells Inlet is at it again experimenting with its pancakes, French toast and fresh fruits.
Owner Nick Woolfort says he likes to keep his customers on their toes when it comes to breakfast specials.
His most recent creation is a little daunting at first, but in the end is quite delicious.
What is known as the Banana Split French Toast, $7, sounds like a cloyingly sweet concoction that will leave you with a sugar high for the rest of the day, but is actually a delicately balanced breakfast for those with a sweet tooth and those who prefer more savory dishes.
Three pieces of Texas Toast are dipped in egg and browned on a flat-top, then they are topped with a fresh banana cut in half, fresh cut strawberries, chunked fresh pineapple, not-too-sweet whipped cream, walnuts and chocolate syrup.

The extra-light whipped cream, with pineapple, nuts and strawberries mixed in, melts into the hot French Toast and warms up the chocolate syrup.
Woolfort knows just how to balance the sweet with just the right amount of freshness and even adds a bit of salt.
With a love of trying new recipes, Woolfort says he recently made a pancake fruit roll-up with bananas and strawberries, a St. Patrick’s Day breakfast with kiwi and green frosting, and French Toast with bananas, caramel and chocolate sauce.
In addition to the specials, the Breakfast Klub has omelets, bacon and eggs, steak and eggs, Corned Beef Hash, Pancakes, sandwiches and much more.
The Breakfast Klub is in St.James Plaza at 10799 S.C. 707, Murrells Inlet, and the phone number is (843) 650-9001.
