By Becky Billingsley
Friday, July 6, 2012, Myrtle Beach - More new restaurants are soon opening in the Myrtle Beach area, and you'll learn how to get free wings and a Christmas Dinner in July that benefits veterans.
Bandito's Update
The opening of Bandito's, a new oceanfront Mexican restaurant at 14th Avenue North in Myrtle Beach, grows ever closer. General Manager and Executive Chef Sean Christenson said on July 5 that construction crews are working 18 hours per day to finish the final details. When a launch date is announced, Bandito's staff members will be the first to know.
Sea Captain's Milestone
Sea Captain's House, a Myrtle Beach restaurant legend that opened in 1962, celebrated its 50th year in business on July 4. The refurbished and enlarged beach house/boarding house is at 3002 N. Ocean Blvd. in Myrtle Beach, and the number is (843) 448-8082. It's open daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and reservations are not accepted, except for private parties.

Lumping Along
Matt "Lumpy" Kelly will open Lumpy's Bar & Grill in about two weeks at 9259 Ocean Highway in Pawleys Island. The building is being completely remodeled and furnished with lots of wood, black accents and tasteful sea-going decor items. General manager Stephen Howell (who was the opening GM for Land's End in Georgetown, when it reopened with a new owner) says the menu will feature seafood, steaks and lots of house specials, including Lumpy's famous gumbo.
"It will be a place for people to come and hang out," Howell said, "with live music."
At least to start, Lumpy's will be open for dinner and late-night dining. The number is (843) 240-8882. It is at the south end of Pawleys Island, across Ocean Highway from the Food Lion shopping center and next to The Clip Joint.
Barbecue Cook-Off Benefits Veterans
From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, July 7, a day full of food and family fun is taking place at Myrtle Beach Harley-Davidson at 4710 S. Kings Highway in Myrtle Beach. The day includes biker games, live music, a petting zoo and a barbecue cook-off from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Donations will be collected and given to The Canine Angels, which provides free service dogs for veterans.
Sticky Situation
To celebrate its 20th anniversary, Sticky Fingers is offering dining specials on the 20th of each month through March 2013. On July 20, that deal is the Barbecue Trio for the 1992 price of $11. If you sign up for the Stick-E Club, you'll get a certificate for free wings right away, and ribs on your birthday. Also, Sticky Fingers has added several new menu items lately, including new vegetables, deluxe burgers and new desserts. Sticky Fingers Smokehouse has one location in Myrtle Beach at 2461 Coastal Grand Circle and another in North Myrtle Beach at 4200 U.S. 17 S.
Christmas in July
Celebrating five months until Christmas, Dirty Dick's Crab House is hosting a Christmas Celebration in July from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, July 25. It's a holiday fund-raiser that will benefit Wounded Warrior and Toys for Tots. Also, for a $20 donation (or $10 and an unwrapped toy valued at $10 or more), diners receive a Holiday Cajun Fried Turkey Meal with fried turkey, apple-Andouille stuffing, mashed potatoes, yam casserole, Creole butterbeans, orange-cranberry relish, bread and either pumpkin or apple pie. Half the proceeds from the meal donation will go to the charities. Live entertainment will take place, plus a holiday wine tasting, holiday Tarot card readings, raffles and Mr. and Mrs. Claus will make appearances. Dirty Dick's is at 1101 U.S. 17 N. in North Myrtle Beach, and the number is (843) 663-3499. For advance reservations for 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. seatings, call Kathy Maupin at (843) 399-2939.

Mr. Fish Needs Help
Mr. Fish, a.k.a. Ted Hammerman, is looking for a prep cook and a line cook to work at The Original Mr. Fish at 3401 N. Kings Highway in Myrtle Beach.
The line cook should be capable of sautéing all menu items. The prep cook will make dishes such as She-Crab Soup, Crab Cakes and Mother Sauces.
Mr. Fish says, "for qualified people we will pay above average for the scale here in Myrtle Beach. Can also offer, after a 90-day period, a health plan where we pay half."
