Reader Review: Nacho Mama's, Myrtle Beach

alt

By Sylvia Stovall

Sunday, July 8, 2012, Myrtle Beach - I was not pleased by my experience at Nacho Mama's, a new downtown Myrtle Beach restaurant.

On July 3 we were down at the Myrtle Beach Boardwalk and noticed a new place on 9th Avenue near Ripley's Believe It or Not. All the new and upgraded restaurants on the boardwalk are so nice, we dared to think this might be also.

We were very wrong.

The food is absolutely terrible. A description would be dry cardboard, because there was nothing - NOTHING - fresh.

We ordered a Queso Burrito and Fish Tacos, and they were convenience store-style frozen food zapped in the microwave. It cost $15.50 plus tip (we couldn't fault the poor waitress for the food quality).

As a local, I feel I should have known better, but they fooled me. I guarantee they will not stay open past the tourist season, but it is such a shame. Tourists Beware!

We have so many great Mexican places here, like Salsarita's, Nacho Hippo and Abuelo's. They all offer great food chock-full of fresh meats and veggies at reasonable prices.

Nacho Mama's is at 300 9th Ave. N. in Myrtle Beach, and the number is (843) 712-1386.
