Myrtle Beach Restaurants Openings and Closings

By Becky Billingsley
Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2012, Myrtle Beach – Three Myrtle Beach restaurants are closed or closing (two temporarily), and three are opening soon.
In May Butch and Kathy Quartel took over Diner at the Beach at 105 S. Kings Highway in Myrtle Beach and served inexpensive breakfasts and lunches, but now they are closing due to health reasons. Butch Quartel said on Sept. 4 he has the restaurant for sale for $20,000, which is negotiable.
“All someone would have to do is add a license and food,” he said. “Everything else is here, right down to the ketchup and mustard.”
Quartel will also entertain offers on selling his equipment, which includes a six-burner stove and oven, ice maker, flat top grill, two 50-gallon fryers, a display cooler, an upright cooler and upright freezer, a chest freezer, a residential-type refrigerator, a commercial microwave, conveyor toaster, Fresh-a-Matic Steamer, coffee maker, four stainless steel prep tables, a cash register, nine dining tables, 32 chairs and various small appliances and fixtures.
Anyone interested in purchasing the restaurant or equipment can contact Quartel at (704) 616-3059.
Two Myrtle Beach restaurants are closed temporarily: Little Italy at 3001 N. Kings Highway is closed until 11 a.m. on Sept. 6; and Red Basil at 1604 N. Kings Highway is closed until Sept. 15.
On Monday, Sept. 10, Sobaya Japanese Bistro is scheduled to open at 3590 Saint James Ave. in Myrtle Beach, which is off Robert M. Grissom Parkway just south of 38th Avenue North.
And here is an update Angelo’s Steak and Pasta’s upcoming move from 2011 S. Kings Highway to its new location two blocks south at 2311 S. Kings Highway: It will be about three more weeks.
Sandra’s Café & Pizzeria at 1780 Pine Island Rd. has been closed since late 2010, and the space is finally getting a new tenant. Planet Wings, a franchise with several locations in New York State and a few in New Jersey, is opening there on Sept. 27.
