Rhode Island Dogs at New Socastee Restaurant

By Becky Billingsley
Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2012, Myrtle Beach – Brenda King took over the former Beach Boys Deli on Socastee Boulevard in Myrtle Beach, and she is serving Rhode Island-style hot dogs at Lil’ Taste of Rhody.
She is serving all-beef wieners with marinated meat sauce, onions, mustard and celery salt for $1.75 apiece or three for $5. Her meat sauce, King says, should not be confused with southern-style hot dog chili. This meat topping is saltier and dryer.
In addition to hot dogs, there are deli-style sandwiches ($2.50-$5.50) including Tuna Pocket, BLT, grinders, club sandwiches and the Rhody Special, which is ham, turkey, roast beef, bacon, cheese (American or provolone), lettuce, tomato, onion and mayonnaise on an Italian roll.
Salads and sides ($1.50-$3) are Potato Salad, Tuna Macaroni Salad and Caesar Salad.
There’s also ice cream ($1.50-$4) such as cones, Banana Split and Sundaes.
Rhody’s is a carry-out restaurant, but there are umbrella-topped outdoor picnic tables where diners are welcome to dine while watching traffic whiz by on Socastee Boulevard.
Lil’ Taste of Rhody is at 4002 Socastee Blvd., and the number is (843) 467-5945. Hours of operation are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
