Wild Game Weekends

By Becky Billingsley

Friday, October 29, 2009, Surfside Beach – If you have never tasted kangaroo, this weekend is one of a few chances you’ll have to sample the meal at a local bistro.

black river grill duckBlack River Grill has launched Wild Game Weekends when a different meat will be featured in specials Fridays through Sundays through the end of the year.

“Last weekend was venison, and this weekend is kangaroo,” proprietor Kurt Klepper said this week.

The kangaroo will be presented as a tenderloin filet pan-seared and cut on the bias and served with portabello demi-glace.

Other wild game that will be featured during upcoming weekends are wild boar, ostrich, venison and duck. Entrees will include kebabs, burgers and chops. All the featured wild game dinners include two side dishes and cost less than $20.

Local diners are catching on that this place is a lively bistro. Many people choose to enjoy the fine Carolina fall weather by eating outside on the patio.

Black River Grill is open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily, and the number is (843) 750-0296. It's at 1000 S. Commons Drive, in an outparcel in front of the Surfside Beach-area Lowe's Home Improvement.
